Album of the week: Melanie Fiona “The Bridge”

This weeks album of the week comes from Melanie Fiona, a 27 year old singer from Canada, who currently has a smash hit with “Give It To Me Right”.  Her debut album “The Bridge” is a great mixture of pop, 60`s soul, R`n`B, funk, dancehall with a modern touch. Among the 12 songs are a lot of catchy positive songs like “Bang Bang”, “Monday Morning”, “Ay Yo”, “You stop my heart” and “Johnny”.  One of the best songs is the bombastic ballad “It Kills Me”.  Melanie has a great voice and the album is a nice groovy conglomeration of beautiful songs.

Melanie got support on the album from producers and songwriters Andrea Martin (En Vogue, Angie Stone, Leona Lewis) and Vada Nobles (Lauryn Hill), Peter Wade (Natasha Bedingfield) and Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse).

“The Bridge” has been released in Melanie`s home country in May and has just been released in Europe. In the US the album will be released in October. This weekend Melanie will play a live concert at the prestigious German radio festival “SWR3 New Pop” in Baden Baden on September, 19th.
