Album of the week: I Blame Coco “The Constant”

British band I Blame Coco are releasing their debut album “The Constant” this week in the UK. After the great singles “Selfmachine”, “Quicker” and the collaboration with Robyn on “Caesar”, the wait is finally over.

The band consists of Coco Summer (Guitar/Vocals), yes she is the daughter of singer STING and Trudie Styler,  Al Shux (Guitar, Octave – Bass), Ben Jones (Drums) and Emlyn Maillard (Keys/Synths). The pretty and charismatic singer has a great voice and style. The music is electro-pop-rock, great melodies and intelligent lyrics. The band worked a long time on the album and got help from Klas Ahlund from Stockholm, who is working with Robyn a lot. He did co-wrote lots of the songs. Besides the singles there are excellent pop songs like “In Spirit Golden”, “Please Rewind”, “Playwright Fate”, “Party Bag”, “It`s About To Get Worse” and the great cover of the Saint Etienne hit “Only Love Can Break Your Heart”.

A wonderful debut. Definately one of the best debuts in 2010!

The album is out in the UK today and in some countries you can already buy the album on iTunes. The special version contains an exklusive track (“Atlantis Found”) and the video to all 3 singles. Germany will release the album physically by the end of February 2011. The band will be playing some gigs in November in Europe.
